TRLOP perforators - Theory
How TRansLumical Occlusion of Perforators (TRLOP) works
The basic principles behind TRansLuminal Occlusion of Perforators (TRLOP) are the same as many of the new endovenous surgical procedures. A device that can destroy the veins, usually with heat, is placed into the vein to be treated - in this case the incompetent perforating vein (IPV)
- and under local anaesthetic the vein is treated.
If treated adequately with the correct technique and settings, the vein will close and will stay closed permanently.
